Derryl Gabel: Funnels transcription and Skype lessons available
Hi Guitar Friends, a few months ago I transcribed Allan Holdsworth's tune "Funnels" from the REH '92 instructional video. If you don't know who Allan Holdsworth is he's undoubtedly one of the best guitarist to ever live. This was one of two tunes which were not transcribed in the book "Just for the Curious" that accompanied the video. I painstakingly went through and transcribed all the guitar parts ( the comping and the solo ) in meticulous detail, slowing down the video to get all the fingerings as accurate as possible. Not only that, I got with Chad Wackerman ( the drummer in the video ) and Steve Hunt (the keyboard player ) to make sure I had the time signatures and harmony correct! I transcribed the score in Power Tab but also have it in Guitar Pro 6 as well as PDF versions. Here is a video of the tune

I worked so hard on transcribing this that I injured my index finger on my right hand with all the mouse clicking. It actually still has not fully recovered.

Hello and thanks for stopping by...This Halloween I cover Led Zeppelins KASHMIR... A thunderous, hypnotic, masterpiece by the Best band in the World! Pretty good backing track...I did all the guitar work. The wig was borrowed from a friend. Thanks! Hurricane Sandy is fast approaching us here in Connecticut. I had to hurry to get this up before the power goes out.... This piece features Jimmy Pages famous use of the DADGAD tuning (from low to high), I wanted to use my Danelectro (like Jimmys) but the thing will just not stay in tune. My trusty Gibson Les Paul 59 re-sissue did just fine I believe. I hope you enjoy this. Filmed at Area 52 in Wilton Ct.

Italian bassist and composer Alberto Rigoni reviews "Wahoo", a new pedal by Sonuus. The Wahoo is a dual analogue filter stomp box where each filter can be configured as low-pass or band-pass and operate independently in wah pedal, envelope, LFO, and pitch-tracking modes. Guitar wizard Vinnie Moore with some hybrid picking examples (using pick and fingers). Some great exponents of hybrid picking...James Burton, one of the most recorded guitarists ever (played on all sort of sessions and with Elvis for years (Las Vegas Elvis not Sun sessions Elvis, that was Scotty Moore), also one of my favourite players Richard Thompson, plus Brian Setzer (Stray Cats), the great Chet Atkins, Albert Lee, and blues great Lonnie Mack. I saw Lonnie at the Prince of Wales pub in St. Kilda years ago, playing his Gibson Flying V, great player and good voice too.

Check out his Channel for many great backing tracks! I used my handy Gibson Custom Shop SG Custom in sparkle blue finish with 3 pickups. Its an amazing looking and playing guitar. Purchased on a whim late one night on Ebay. (ok, so after a few drinks. I hopped online, saw it, made a bid...BOOM...You OWN it) I used a Jim Dunlop Jazz 3 pick.
