Daves 1959 Les Paul reissue Composition to a backing track called Reflections

Dave here with an original piece for the backing track called Reflections. I played it with my Gibson 1959 re-issue Les Paul. I used a Steve Vai Bad Horsie Wah wah pedal, a Jim Dunlop Jazz 3 pick, my Digitech 2120 guitar processor, a Mesa Boogie 20 watt per channel stereo power amp through 2 Marshall 4x12's in stereo....This clip was ready to be recorded over a month ago but the high heat and humidity here made it torture to sit and play for more than a few minutes. I finally just had to do it but I was sweating bullets as you can see! Please enjoy this clip and tell friends about it if you like it!

Tom Quayle: Shred Knowledge 5 star review!

Essential Fusion Scales - Diminished Scale Harmony and Application http://www.tomquayle.co.uk/lessons.html

This huge tutorial is an essential purchase for any budding rock, blues or fusion players wanting to inject some real and exciting fusion sounds into their playing. The diminished scale is THE sound of modern fusion and can produce some of the coolest lines in music if used correctly. In this lesson Tom not only teaches the scale but gives you in depth applications of these new sounds and provides a great starting point with 10 cool, fresh sounding licks and 5 professional backing tracks to get you going. If you re a fusion beginner then this tutorial will give you an awesome introduction to some new sounds in an approachable manner. For more advanced players, Tom goes in depth with modern diminished scale harmony and it s application. Incredible value at only $25

This tutorial contains: -
2 Full 1080p HD Videos - 50mins long
5 Great Backing tracks to jam to
10 fresh sounding and exciting fusion licks
Video demonstration & breakdown of each lick
Example recorded solos for each backing track
2 high quality PDF files explaining each concept in detail

Tom takes us through step by step from the very foundation of the scale its intervals and scale shapes to every intricate depth chordal and superimposition elements this "The Scale of Fusion" has to offer.

I can't say enough how deep this lesson goes in its theory and backed up by great licks of which there are 10 that advance into incredible complexity as they move through each lick, there's stuff I've never seen done here and I've seen alot.
The interval expansion you'll get and pathways learn through lines you willlearn is exiting enough and worth the few shekels it costs.

Then the great 5 cool backing tracks to make the scale work over the scenarios Tom teaches plus the PDF that is Packet full with theory scales chords diagrams and info , this really is a MUST.

I was very impressed with the explanations and overall sound and incredibly good video quality , at a huge screen expanded there was not jelly or pix-elation its a really professional lesson pack and very very good.. more

German Schauss: Shredding Paganini

Shredding Paganini
Heavy Metal Guitar Meets 9 Masterpieces by Niccolo Paganini
By German Schauss
Item: 00-37468
UPC: 038081419527
ISBN 10: 0739080377
ISBN 13: 9780739080375
PRICE: $16.99
Series: National Guitar Workshop
Category: Guitar Method or Supplement
Format: Book & CD
Instrument: Guitar
As the follow-up to his best-selling book Shredding Bach, master shredder German Schauss covers yet another all-time great musician. Niccolo Paganini, whose lifestyle and fame were similar to that of a modern rockstar, was undoubtedly one of the greatest virtuosos that ever lived. His skills were so advanced that many believed he had made a pact with the devil. Paganini's practice schedule (15 hours a day), combined with a genetic connective tissue disorder that gave him "impossible" reach and flexibility with his fingers, resulted in extremely demanding and exciting compositions for shredders of any era. Paganini's works, which showcase his extraordinary skills, are perfect for the heavy metal style and will stretch your playing to the limits. The accompanying CD features all of the examples recorded at multiple speeds to help you practice and get you on your way to mastering Paganini's challenging compositions.

Daves original Instrumental piece to the Sad Melody backing track

Daves original Instrumental piece to the Sad Melody backing track

Dave here with another clip. This backing track is called Sad Melody. I came up with the lines you hear me playing. I used the Jackson Soloist for this because I wanted the use of the Floyd Rose bar for accents. I may do this track again using a Les Paul just for the hell of it. I was under the gun to get this up as i've been crazy at work and just to tired to play late at nite (which is when I record my clips)...I think I could have done it better given more time and relaxed circumstances...anyway for better or worse this my last clip for 2009...more to come in 2010~ Also check out my buddy Popstotexas here on YouTube...listen to his killer take on this backing track as a Tribute to the Great Les Paul who we sadly lost earlier this year....It's a killer! Also, for those who wish to know...This is my setup... I play through a Digitech 2120 guitar processor...It's powered by a 50 watt Mesa Boogie stereo power amp... It all goes through 2 Marshall 4x12 cabinets in stereo... Christian Muenzner: Dan McAvinchey - guitar 9 interview

Dan McAvinchey: Christian, let's talk first about your solo album, "Timewarp". When did you write the songs, and what did you want to achieve when recording started? Christian Muenzner: I started with the songwriting for the album in September 2010, right after I finished recording my solos for the current Obscura album "Omnivium". It wasn't really planned long before, although being a fan of virtuoso guitar playing and instrumental music myself, it has been a dream of mine for many many years to do an instrumental solo album one day. Since the band wasn't on tour for a couple of months, I had some time on my hands and felt really, really inspired after the "Omnivium" sessions, so the writing process in total didn't take more than three months, although I of course had many many ideas that I had collected over the years, which finally turned into real songs on "Timewarp".

What I wanted to achieve was to record an album that would capture the essence of all my favorite classic '80s and '90s shred albums (Tony MacAlpine, Vinnie Moore, Jason Becker, Marty Friedman, Greg Howe, Richie Kotzen, Joe Satriani, Yngwie Malmsteen, Steve Vai, Michael Lee Firkins, etc.) and to combine that with my more modern metal influences - I like to describe it as 'Shrapnel Records shred meets modern metal'. I of course wanted it to showcase a lot of the technique and knowledge I learned over the years. I wanted to try a lot of stuff I never get to do in the context of a band setting, but I also wanted it to be real music, with the main focus being on songs, the riffs, melodies and arrangements. I think that's what made all those classic albums like "Maximum Security", "Passion And Warfare", "Rising Force", "Dragon's Kiss", "Mind's Eye", "Surfing With The Alien" and "Perpetual Burn" special. Beyond the flashy guitar work they featured really strong and epic songs that people would still remember 25 years later. Many modern shred albums totally lack that, as often it's just a bunch of randomly thrown together riffs and bad drum programming with a guy noodling over that. I definitely tried to get away from that as much as I could.

I also strived for a good, organic production with only real musicians being involved, instead of a plastic release with me doing everything myself. I also wanted to showcase the other musicians a lot, to make it more dynamic, musical and interesting for the listener. more

Eric Sempe: Prince Albert's wedding in Monaco

Eric Sempe (starts playing 1:50) has just played for Prince Albert's wedding in Monaco with Pumeza Matshikiza (just before Renee Fleming sang, followed by Andrea Bocelli and Juan Diego Florez, quite the spectacular line-up....). Must have been an incredible honour. The tune is a simple traditional South African tune in honor of Charlene's roots.

Virgil And The Accelerators with Jake Rigden

Virgil And The Accelerators with Jake Rigden

Hi all Jake (15) here. This is me jamming with the great Virgil and the Accelerators at the Beaverwood Club, Chislehurst. Many thanks to Virgil and the band for letting do this. VIRGIL & THE ACCELERATORS - directly from the sell-out New Generation Blues Tour, simply the hottest young Rocking blues band in the land!! "You've really got something going" - Joe Bonamassa Discovered by Otis Grand at 12 years old, championed by Joe Bonamassa and encouraged by Carvin Jones the impossibly young Virgil & The Accelerators are an incredibly talented young band. Apart from already opening for The Hoax, The Fabulous Thunderbirds and The Blues Band, Virgil & The Accelerators have already played three London shows in their own right and have - think John Mayer meets Joe Bonamassa via Robert Randolph, SRV & Clapton - critical acclaim ringing in their ear 'These kids are frighteningly good' - Kim Wilson, Fabulous Thunderbirds "A guitar led, wah wah tinged avalanche of psychedelic notes. Simply Magical" - www.getreadytorock.com Special guest is 15 year old Jake Rigden that everyone has asked about. www.virgilandtheaccelerators.com www.feenstra.co.uk

Daves Melodic Rock original piece to a backing track-Light at the end of the tunnel

Daves Melodic Rock original piece to a backing track-Light at the end of the tunnel

Greetings! Dave here with one last clip for 2008! This is a little piece I made up after finding the backing track on the WWW...I call it The light at the end of the tunnel... It's been a crappy year for the most part...gas prices, the stock market, the economy in general, and a personal revelation that things can change at anytime...this track just sort of "spoke" to me to come up with something uplifting. I get a really good feeling playing it for some reason..its my light at the end of the tunnel so to speak...I hope you enjoy it!Also, for those who wish to know...This is my setup... I play through a Digitech 2120 guitar processor...It's powered by a 50 watt Mesa Boogie stereo power amp... It all goes through 2 Marshall 4x12 cabinets in stereo... I also sometimes use a Steve Vai Bad Horsie Wah Wah pedal... I Play and love D'Addario XL guitar strings, the gauge is 10 through 46 (EXL110),,, I also use and LOVE V-Picks guitar picks...I use the "small pointed Lite" model.... Thats my story, and i'm sticken' to it...
